Op 1 juli kwamen bezorgde inwonders vanuit heel Europa naar Brussel om te demonstreren voor een Europees verbod op zeehondenproducten. Georganiseerd door het IFAW, Eurogroup for Animals, GAIA and Humane Society International (HSI), vond de demonstratie plaats op het plein voor het kantoor van de Europese commissie om zo aan te dringen om nu een verbod in te stellen.
